Admissions to medical colleges happen through
various state and national level examinations. Government colleges across the
country offer admission based on scores obtained in the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) which is
conducted by the CBSE board. However there are many other state level, national
level and private institute examinations that can help you get admission to
reputed medical schools across the country. Given below are a few of them:
AIIMS Medical Entrance Exam:
Conducted by AIIMS, this highly competitive exam is taken by over 80, 000
students every year. The AIIMS test is considered the toughest as only 50 seats
are available for intake. Eligibility for taking up this exam is 60% marks in
your 12th grade. For SC/ST candidates this requirement is 50%.
CMC Vellore
Common Entrance Test: This test is conducted for admission to
Christian Medical College, Vellore, one of the most premier medical colleges in
the country. The college is affiliated to Dr MGR Medical University and the
annual intake is 60 students making it a very competitive exam.
Armed Forces Medical
Colleges Entrance Exam: This exam is conducted annually during May
for admission to AFMC Pune. In addition to Physics, Biology and Chemistry
papers, candidates also need to clear tests on Intelligence, Logical Reasoning
and English Language and Comprehension.
This is a
national level entrance test for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses in
Kasturba Medical College at
Mangalore and Manipal. This online test is conducted normally in April-May
every year and subject papers include Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English
Language.
